Aiken shooting sends woman to hospital; suspect detained
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A shooting Tuesday afternoon in Aiken sent a woman to a hospital, according to authorities.
The Aiken Department of Public Safety responded to a disturbance call at 341 Greenville St. NW at 2:46 p.m., police said.
When officers got there, shots were heard coming from the residence and they found a woman who’d been shot.
She was escorted away from the residence and given medical aid until emergency medical crews arrived.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition was unknown.
Additional officers arrived at the residence and a suspect has been detained, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
The initial report was of a woman suffering gunshot wounds to her chest and an arm.
At the scene, yellow crime scene tape blocked off the street as authorities gathered in drizzle around a small house with light wood siding and brown shutters.

The shooting comes as the CSRA endures a surge in deadly crime that’s affected both sides of the Savannah River since spring. The surge has claimed more than 60 lives in communities large and small.
