Ga. dad accused of hitting daughter who didn’t win sports match
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A Commerce man was arrested last weekend after reportedly abusing his daughter at a middle school sports event, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
Steven Slaton, 38, faces a charge of felony first-degree child cruelty. He posted a $11,200 bond on Monday, the sheriff’s office said.
On Saturday, deputies were called to Cherokee Bluff Middle School near 2 p.m. Slaton was allegedly angry that his daughter didn’t win a wrestling match hosted at the school and punched her in the back, slapped her in the face and picked her up by the ears, lifting her over his head.
The wrestling event was private and not sponsored by the Hall County School District, according to deputies.
The girl wasn’t seriously injured.
