‘I love the unloved’: Aiken woman takes care of 2-headed snake
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - One Aiken woman owns a snake with not just one, but two heads.
“This is definitely the most unique reptile I’ve ever owned, and will ever own,” said Jessica Sharp-Miner.
She owns about a dozen snakes, but this one (or should we say these two?) is different from the rest.
“These are two snakes that didn’t fully separate into identical twins,” she said.
They’re basically like coned twins. Someone found it in their garden and brought it to the park where Sharp-Miner worked.
“They couldn’t be released. There was no way they were gonna survive in the wild, and I already had all the resources,” she said.
She took them in about six years ago and named them Trick and Treat.
She’s amazed they’ve made it this long.
“I just wanted them to survive, and they really have,” said Sharp-Miner.
Two snakes share one body.
“Both heads have intelligence, you can see right now, that one wants to go this way, and the other wants to go that way,” she said while watching the snakes try to move.
They’re different. But for Sharp-Miner, taking care of them is no trick, it’s a treat.
“I love the unloved. You know, the things people think are creepy and crawly. I find them really interesting,” she said.
She says she’ll bring Trick and Treat to some events later this year, like Earth and Sky Night in the spring and Science Education Enrichment Day in the fall.
Both events will happen at the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center where Sharp-Miner works.
