Man jumps into Lake Lanier to escape Georgia State Patrol
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A man took his chances in the waves on Wednesday while trying to escape Georgia State Patrol in Hall County.
Near 4:10 p.m., troopers tried to pull over Clint Nalley, 37, for not wearing a helmet on his motorcycle. But the man didn’t stop, kickstarting a chase, according to state patrol.

Nalley eventually turned into a dead-end road and crashed, running away into a wooded area. Then he dove into Lake Lanier and tried to swim away, troopers said.
Troopers and a deputy from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office hitched a ride on a civilian’s boat, fishing the suspect from the water and arresting him. He was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and later cleared.
Officials also found “a trafficking amount” of methamphetamine and cocaine on the man, according to state patrol. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said the drugs would be worth more than $6,000 on the street.
Nalley remains in Hall County Jail on a $12,160 bond.
