LADSON, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office says a 19-year-old man who was wanted for murder was arrested on Wednesday.

Demetrius Dickerson, of Ridgeville, was wanted for murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office said the charges stem from a deadly shooting on Brightwater Drive in Holly Hill on Feb. 18.

A 22-year-old Summerville man died in the shooting following “an apparent confrontation,” the agency says.

We’ve reached out to the coroner’s office for the identification.

Dorchester County’s Special Weapons and Tactical Unit and the U.S. Marshal Service executed a high-risk arrest warrant on the 1200 block of Maryland Drive in Ladson Wednesday morning.

According to the arrest warrant, Dickerson was identified out of a lineup of six people. The arrest warrant states the incident was captured on camera.

“This has been an extensive investigation that has resulted in the arrest of our shooting suspect,” Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “I’d like to thank the US Marshals Service and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office for their help in making this arrest.”

The sheriff’s office said Dickerson was out on bond in Dorchester County where he had been charged with second-degree burglary and grand larceny in Nov. 2023.
