22-year-old accused in shooting at motel on Gordon Highway
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A 22-year-old has been accused of a shooting that injured one at the Budget Inn Express on Gordon Highway in December, according to authorities.
Deputies say on Dec. 14, 2023, they responded to the Budget Inn Express located at 1616 Gordon Highway in reference to an aggravated assault that happened around 5:40 a.m.
Deputies say when they arrived they found the first victim in the stairwell next to room #212.
He had been shot once in the upper thigh, according to authorities. Deputies immediately applied a tourniquet.
Deputies say they asked the victim who shot him, and he stated Maurice Holland Jr., also known as “P-Nut,” was the suspect.
The second victim told authorities she witnessed Holland shoot the first victim, authorities say.
According to authorities, she stated that Holland put a handgun to her head and took her black Apple iPhone 11, valued at 200 dollars.
Holland then ran north across Gordon Highway, the victim told authorities.
Holland was arrested on April 18 and charged with 10 counts of aggravated assault, eight counts of armed robbery and two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree.
