Here’s how you can help in CSRA for National Volunteer Week
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - It’s National Volunteer Week. April is dedicated to honoring all volunteers in our communities.
If you feel inspired to give back or are looking for a way to help, there are many organizations in need of your help.
“We are connecting with people every single day and there’s always something going on, especially with a command of our size. We have the Kroc Center. We have the Center of Hope. We have our family stores. We have so much to offer the community, and we really need help,” said Salvation Army Marketing and PR Manager, Janelys Villalta.

Ashley Brown said she believes homeownership to be the solution to the blight and crime created by uninvested and absentee landlords.

Your help isn’t just needed during National Volunteer Week, but every week of the year.
Over at Golden Harvest, they say they’re seeing more volunteers this year, but want to keep the momentum going.
“Everyone has developed spring fever. It’s that time of year. But we ask that you please don’t forget about Golden Harvest Food Bank this summer. We’ll still have our volunteer opportunities at all of our locations all summer long,” said Golden Harvest Food Bank Volunteer Program Manager, Doressa Hawes.

Now it’s easier than ever to volunteer at the Salvation Army with new volunteer software.
After you sign up on their website’s volunteer tab, you’ll have access to all of their volunteer opportunities across the Augusta area.
“It’s a really amazing opportunity for us to make it so simple for our volunteers to just go in and see what we have to offer and how they can connect with the community that we serve,” said Villalta.
