Orangeburg County sheriff IDs suspect in double homicide
CORDOVA, S.C. (WIS) - The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office held a news conference Monday on a March 22 double homicide in Cordova.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell identified the man arrested in late March as Richard Haynes.
Ravenell said Haynes was initially charged with obstruction of justice but has now been charged with two counts of murder, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of stalking.

A 14-year-old girl was shot and killed while sleeping inside her home on Bayshore Drive in Fairfax, the Allendale County Coroner’s Office said.

The shooting occurred shortly before 7 p.m. at a home on 115 Pontiac Lane in Cordova.
The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Kayla Beason, 32, of Cordova and James Christopher Robinson Jr., 23, of Orangeburg.
Deputies said Haynes has an extensive criminal history, having been charged with grand larceny, aggravated assault and battery, breaking into an automobile, failure to stop for blue lights and more.

Ravenell said Haynes was arrested Friday in Myrtle Beach at a hotel, where he was staying with others. He said he believes Haynes was in a relationship with Beason at some point and used GPS devices to stalk her. OCSO did not know if Haynes and Robinson knew each other.
The investigation is ongoing, but deputies said they do not believe any other people were involved in the homicides.
