Suspect in Cordova double-murder stabbed twice in Orangeburg jail
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WIS) - A man accused of shooting and killing two people was stabbed twice while detained at the Orangeburg County Detention Center.
An incident report from the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) said Richard Antone Haynes was stabbed in the shoulder and lower back on May 9 when inmates were released from their cells for recreation time.
Haynes allegedly was speaking on the phone when he was attacked by five inmates, one of whom reached into his jumpsuit and pulled out a weapon, according to OCSO.
The shooting for which Haynes was arrested happened at a home on Pontiac Lane in Cordova the night of March 24. He is charged with charged with two counts of murder, stalking, and burglary for the deaths of Kayla Beason, 32, and James Robinson Jr, 23.
No charges have been filed yet for Haynes’s stabbing. The investigation is ongoing.
