Mom, infant found dead in Augusta home near Grovetown
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We’re learning new details from an incident report after the discovery of a deceased mother and her son on Chase Creek Court.
On Saturday at 6:09 p.m., deputies responded to the 1600 block of Chase Creek Court to investigate a report of a “suspicious situation.”
According to Coroner Mark Bowen, Tiara Jennings, 30, and her infant son were found dead inside the home. Both were pronounced dead on the scene at 7:05 p.m.
Once on scene, deputies entered the bedroom, where they found the mom and son lying on the floor to the left of the bed.
According to the report, Tiara was found face down on the floor with her head turned to the left, with the infant on her back with his face upward.
The deputy states both had discoloration on their faces and lips, and the infant had a large bruise on his head.
The home is in the McCoy’s Creek neighborhood, a subdivision of mostly two-story vinyl-sided homes built in the past few years.
The neighborhood is adjacent to Grovetown but is in the Augusta city limits.
An autopsy has been scheduled.
