73-year-old motorcycle rider dies in crash on I-20 in McDuffie County

THOMSON, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The McDuffie County Coroner’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol Office are investigating a deadly crash that left one dead on Ibterstate 20.

On Saturday, the coroner’s office said 73-year-old Edward Hyde from Montgomery, Ala., was pronounced dead after an accident on his motorcycle.

They say Hyde was driving east on I-20 when his motorcycle went off the road at mile marker 176 and slammed into traffic barrier cables on the westbound lane.

He was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:18 a.m.

An autopsy has not been scheduled at this time.
