Sheriff’s office, other agencies help to keep Washington County safe
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says they teamed up with other Georgia agencies to help keep the county safe.
According to the sheriff’s office, while following up on a previous crime, investigators encountered several males in the yard of an abandoned house on Wednesday.
The males were found in possession of marijuana, cocaine, assorted prescription pills and a large amount of cash, authorities say.
Officials say two man were arrested and charged.
Also this week, law enforcement agencies ed forces to enhance the safety of Washington County on Thursday.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Sandersville Police Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigations, Middle Georgia Gang Taskforce, Georgia State Patrol and the Georgia Department of Community Supervision conducted a patrol in Washington County.
The collaborative effort resulted in many citations and warnings, eight arrests, the seizure of drugs and the removal of one firearm from the streets, the sheriff’s office says.
“As I’ve emphasized before, our commitment to proactive law enforcement remains unwavering. We are dedicated to protecting the law-abiding citizens of Washington County and will continue to do so with vigilance,” said Sheriff Joel Cochran in a Facebook post.
