17-year-old sought in Augusta shooting that injured 1 person

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the suspect in a weekend shooting on Monte Carlo Drive.

Brandon Alexander Francis, 17, was identified as the suspect in the shooting that happened around 12:10 a.m. Sunday in the 3400 block of Monte Carlo Drive, according to deputies.

Deputies were initially sent to a convenience store at 3771 Peach Orchard Road, but they were told the 21-year-old victim was being taken to a hospital in a private vehicle.

Instead, he was found just after 12:30 a.m. at Fifth and Broad streets and taken to a hospital from there.

Authorities released a photo of Francis and said he’s 5 feet 7 inches tall; and weighs 126 pounds.

He’s known to frequent the Hephzibah area and is considered armed and dangerous.

Fifth and Broad streets, where the victim was found, is just blocks from where a shooting unfolded around 1:15 a.m. Saturday.

In that incident, men were shooting at each other on a crowded sidewalk at 10th and Broad streets, sparking terror among witnesses and customers at nearby businesses. Deputies shot one suspect. He and his brother were later arrested.
