Woman dies 4 days after shooting on Ellis Street in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A woman died after being shot during an incident on Ellis Street last weekend, the Richmond County coroner said Thursday.

Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said he responded to Wellstar/MCG about a shooting death that occurred July 27 in the 1900 block of Ellis Street.

The woman was shot at least one time and transported by EMS to Wellstar/MCG hospital, Bowen said.

She was pronounced dead Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., according to Bowen.

The suspect arrested in connection with the death of a 2-year-old has now been charged with murder, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says Wednesday.

An autopsy has been scheduled and an identification will be released once the family is notified, Bowen said.

It was the fifth fatal shooting in Augusta and the seventh in the CSRA in July.
