19-year-old charged with Barnwell County hit-and-run death

BARNWELL, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A 19-year-old has been charged after a pedestrian died in Barnwell, South Carolina Highway Patrol told us on Wednesday.

South Carolina Highway Patrol officials arrested Samantha Leighan Cannon, of Alcove Drive, Barnwell, on Aug. 3.

She was charged with hit-and-run with death, officials say.

A pedestrian died Saturday morning after being hit by a vehicle on South Carolina Highway 64, according to authorities.

Barnwell County Coroner Denise Gibson on Monday identified the victim as Eugene Brabham, 69, of Snelling.

Law enforcement says the accident happened around 4:48 a.m.

Brabham was traveling east on the westbound side of Highway 64 when he was struck by a driver of an unknown vehicle that left the scene according to authorities.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
