BOWMAN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Four people are dead in Aiken and Orangeburg counties from car crashes in the last several days.

Aiken County

A 38-year-old died in a single-vehicle accident on Edgefield Highway near Old Friar Road early Saturday, according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.

Coroner Daryl Ables says Larry L. Priester, 38, of Barnwell, was killed in the accident that happened around 7:24 a.m. near the intersection of Old Friar Road.

The vehicle was traveling north on Edgefield Highway when it ran off the right side of the road and crashed, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Priester was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:30 a.m., according to Ables.

An autopsy has been scheduled in Newberry.

Ables says the coroner’s office, along with South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.

Orangeburg County

Around 7:59 a.m. Saturday morning, a 1998 Chevy Blazer was traveling west on Charleston Highway when it ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

Deputies say the car then came back on to the road and went off the left side of the road.

The driver was the only one in the vehicle and was pronounced dead on scene, according to deputies.

A second fatal happened about 7 miles north of Bowman.

Just before 11:15 p.m. Friday, a 2008 Honda Accord was traveling south on Highway 301 near Homestead Road when it left the right side of the road.

Troopers say the car hit a ditch and then a utility pole before overturning.

There were two people in the car.

One died from injuries suffered in the crash, while the other was taken to a hospital with injuries.

There is no word on their current condition.

A hit-and-run crash in the county killed one person and injured two others.

A suspect has been arrested in that crash, which authorities say happened when the suspect was trying to flee police.
