Aiken police investigate 2 shootings less than 2 miles apart
AIKEN. S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Less than 10 hours apart, the Aiken Department of Public Safety responded to two shootings less than two miles away from each other, authorities said Tuesday.
On Tuesday at about 2:38 a.m., officers responded to the 811 block of Laurens Street at Colt’s Crossing Apartments to investigate a shooting.
One man was taken to a hospital by emergency medical crews. His condition was unknown.
Law enforcement was still on the scene as of 3:37 a.m., but authorities had left by 4:30 a.m.
2 people injured in shooting on James Drive in Augusta
Two people were injured in a shooting on Sunday night on James Drive in Augusta, according to authorities.

The night before at approximately 9:14 p.m., officers say they responded to the 1200 block of Alfred Street to investigate a report of gunshots.
Officers say found damage but no injuries were reported.
Both shootings are ongoing investigations, authorities say.
There is no suspect information at this time and it is unknown if the two incidents are related, according to authorities.

The shootings come amid an outbreak of violent crime that’s claimed more than 170 lives in a little over two years across the CSRA.
The crime outbreak has affected communities large and small, but as the biggest city in the region, Augusta has been hit especially hard.
Authorities have blamed much of the problem on gangs.
