Bowen Turner to be released from prison in October
ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Orangeburg County man accused of sexually assaulting three teenagers in three counties and violating bond dozens of times to play golf and go to restaurants is set to be released from prison next month.
Bowen Turner, now 22 years old, is expected to be released from a state prison Oct. 31 after spending more than seven months behind bars.
“The Intensive Supervision istrative Release Authority has approved inmate Turner’s release on Oct. 31, 2024,” Chrysti Shain, the Director of Communications for the South Carolina Department of Corrections, said in an email. “This is the group that acts similarly to the parole board for adult offenders. The ISARA hears cases involving the Youthful Offender Act.”
Local meth kingpin used mom as drug courier, feds say
Six local residents are headed to federal prison after authorities busted a wide-ranging meth pipeline from Atlanta that was headed by a man who used his mom as a drug courier, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Turner was most recently sent to SCDC custody in March 2022 after the ISARA revoked his parole following his arrest for driving under the influence, having an open container of beer or wine in a car, public disorderly conduct, a seat belt violation and resisting arrest.
In this incident, Turner crashed his car, narrowly avoiding another car and flipping his car multiple times, according to authorities. He was taken to the hospital where, officials say, he was argumentative, belligerent and extremely intoxicated, fighting with hospital staff and state troopers.
Man, woman killed in pair of Orangeburg shootings
A man and woman are dead following two separate shootings along the same residential road in Orangeburg County.

Turner was originally facing criminal sexual conduct charges after being accused of sexually assaulting three teenage girls in 2018 and 2019. As part of a sweetheart plea deal in 2022, Turner pleaded guilty to assault and battery and was given probation.
Weeks later, Turner was arrested in a separate incident and charged with disorderly conduct, possession of alcohol by a minor and threatening a public employee. Court documents show Turner threatened to bite off the finger of an Orangeburg County deputy when the deputy informed him of the jail’s COVID-19 protocols which required Turner to wear a mask.

A man was arrested on Monday after firing multiple shots at an Augusta residence.

Following that arrest and probation violation, Turner was sent to the Department of Corrections, where he stayed for about 16 months until he was let out in Nov. 2023 on supervised release.
Turner has not had any escapes or disciplinary sanctions during his most recent stint in prison since March, according to Department of Corrections documents.
