THOMSON, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A Thomson man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime after firing shots at a car on Friday, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Officials say the GBI was requested to investigate a shooting incident that took place in McDuffie County.

McDuffie County deputies say they responded to a 911 call regarding shots being fired from a car.

New details in deadly shooting of 39-year-old in Thomson

We’re learning new details after a 39-year-old was killed in a shooting in Thomson on Friday morning, according to the McDuffie County Coroner’s Office.

They arrested Rakyus Mccord, 21, after he fired several shots from a car he was a enger in, hitting another car that was traveling on Interstate 20.

McCord is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to officials. He was booked into the McDuffie County Jail.

Officials say no injuries were reported during the shooting incident and that the investigation is active and ongoing.
