On Monday, authorities issued a warrant for the arrest of Ray Terrell Streetman Jr., 27, of Augusta, in relation to the shooting.

At approximately 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 13, deputies from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office say they responded to reports of a large party on Martin Luther King Boulevard in Keysville.

Upon arrival, deputies say they encountered a significant crowd and began efforts to disperse attendees.

During this operation, deputies observed Streetman driving recklessly in a vehicle on the roadway, reportedly laying drag, deputies said.

As deputies approached to address the situation, Streetman accelerated and drove directly toward one of the deputies directing traffic, according to authorities.

In response to the imminent threat, a deputy discharged their weapon at the vehicle as it approached, deputies said. Streetman then fled the scene, and the car has not yet been located.

After fleeing deputies, Streetman was later dropped off by an unknow individual at an Emergency Medical Assistance station around 10:00 p.m., suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his left side.
