Incident report sheds new details on Evans High School coach arrest
EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We’re learning new details about a community coach at Evans High School who has been arrested and charged with improper sexual conduct by a teacher, according to Columbia County jail bookings.
According to records, 30-year-old Montel Watters was arrested on Tuesday.
In a letter sent home to families, school officials say s were notified of a report of an inappropriate relationship between Watters and a student that occurred off campus.
According to the incident report, earlier this month, Watters gave the student a ride home after a game.
Watters told officials on body camera footage that he received oral sex from the student while in front of her house, according to the incident report.

A student was caught with a utility knife at Martinez Elementary School, parents were told Tuesday. It happened a day after similar incidents at two other schools.

Officials say a witness who saw them together that night, noticed Watters without clothes on.
Columbia County School District Police were immediately ed to investigate, according to the letter.
A spokesperson for the school district says a community coach goes through a background check and receives a stipend, but is not otherwise employed by the district.
School officials say Watters will no longer be working with the team or school in any capacity.
Watters bond was set at $5,100, according to jail bookings.
“Safety of students and staff is a top priority and the CCSD does not condone nor does it tolerate inappropriate relationships,” said Principal Wade White in the letter sent home to families. “In an effort to keep you informed, we felt it was best to notify our parents of the investigation and consequences.”
