AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Agencies have announced counties eligible to receive Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program assistance to those impacted by Helene.

People in Georgia impacted by Helene can apply to receive a one-time benefit to help buy food through the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the Georgia Department of Human Services announced.

The next phase in Georgia will run from Thursday Nov. 7 through Nov. 14 (excluding Nov. 10 and 11) for the following counties: Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Jefferson, Jenkins, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Screven, Taliaferro, Warren and Washington.

The last phase will run Monday, Nov. 18 through Nov. 23 for Emanuel County.

Bamberg County gets a nearly $400K grant to help with Helene devastation

About one month after the devastation of Hurricane Helene, Bamberg County received new and much-needed heavy equipment with the help of Congressman Clyburn and the United States Department of Agriculture.

In assistance under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. as of Nov. 1, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved the following counties for DSNAP as a result of Hurricane Helene: Abbeville, Aiken, Allendale, Anderson, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Cherokee, Chester, Edgefield, Fairfield, Greenville, Greenwood, Hampton, Jasper, Kershaw, Laurens, Lexington, McCormick, Newberry, Oconee, Orangeburg, Pickens, Richland, Saluda, Spartanburg, Union, and York.

DSNAP will be implemented in two phases. Residents are only eligible for pre-registration and telephone interviews during their assigned period.

Phase one includes the following counties: Aiken, Allendale, Anderson, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Cherokee, Hampton, Laurens, McCormick, Saluda, Spartanburg, Union and York.

Augustans can now self-report property damage online following Hurricane Helene, officials announced on Monday.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 11, residents of those counties may pre- for DSNAP online.

Those who pre- will be sent instructions on how to complete their eligibility interview by phone and if approved, the applicant will have their EBT card mailed to them.

Applicants are encouraged to provide as much information as possible on the online preregistration form. Failure to provide your county of residence, date of birth, current information, and a photo of your South Carolina Driver’s License/ID card may result in you having to wait to apply in person when your county’s DSNAP onsite event is scheduled.
