3 arrested in ongoing sexual assault case in Burke County

WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Three suspects have been arrested in connection to an ongoing sexual assault investigation, according to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, at approximately 9:30 a.m., investigators with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office say they executed a search warrant on the 200 block of McCoy Church Road as part of an ongoing sexual assault investigation.

The search and investigation led to the arrests of Tommy Lynn Gilliam, 55, and Amanda Charlene Wilkes, 43, at the residence, according to deputies.

This investigation was initiated following allegations of the sexual assault of a juvenile at the residence, authorities say.

During the investigation, investigators also identified and subsequently arrested Mark Aaron Snell, 55, of the 1800 block of Creek Road, due to his involvement in the incident, according to authorities.

All three suspects have been booked into the Burke County Detention Center.

Additional charges may be forthcoming as this remains an active and ongoing investigation. Due to the sensitive nature of this case and to protect the identity of the victim, no additional details regarding the juvenile’s age or identity will be released at this time, according to the sheriff’s office.
