AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - In Aiken County, volunteers came together at the YMCA on Saturday morning to help the community through the A Place to Dream Program.

28 beds were packed up, shipped out and delivered to families with kids that do not have beds.

In partnership with Fearless Church, the volunteers brought the beds to homes, assembled them and provided bedding, sheets and pillows to local families.

Organizers of the event mentioned how Saturday’s deliveries can be the start to providing more help to families in need.

“So, our teams go out and they try to see if there’s any other needs that we can fill for them. But more than anything, just letting them know there are people in the community that actually care. And so, we’ve seen a lot of connections with people coming here, or people attending church. And so, I just think it’s great going out into the community and loving people. That’s really what this program is about,” said some of the organizers.

So far, the church says it has helped A Place to Dream deliver about 200 beds a year.

On Friday, they are planning another delivery that would be the 2,000 bed A Place to Dream has delivered in the CSRA.
