EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Since school started back this fall, there has been a flood of school threats - real and rumored - across the CSRA. We learned of the latest incident at Evans High School on Tuesday.

Parents were notified on Tuesday that there was a threatening comment made against the school that is circulating on social media.

Officials say they reported it to the Columbia County School District Police who are currently investigating. At this time, it is believed the post was made off-campus by an unknown person in a neighboring county.

“Safety of students and staff is a top priority and we take incidents such as these extremely seriously and will investigate fully. We thank those who brought the concerning post to our attention. While law enforcement investigates, we will continue our diligence in exercising routine safety measures. This includes our dedicated School Resource Officers and parking lot monitor monitoring campus, ensuring doors are closed completely after being opened, and that all visitors check-in through the secure access entryway,” Principal Wade White said.

Parents and students can report suspicious behavior to school s, Columbia County School District Police, or via the CCSD Anonymous Tip Hotline at 706-541-3600.

Additionally, social media posts should never be shared after they have been reported, officials urge. This helps prevent the spread of false information and unnecessary panic.

Just last week, a student was charged over making a threat against Columbia Middle School.
