Burke County Sheriff’s Office makes arrests in big drug bust
WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Multiple arrests have been made following a five-month-long investigation into illegal narcotics distribution, according to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
Burke County officials say the arrests were made in collaboration with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office Special Response Team executed coordinated search warrants at the following locations:
- Persimmon Road
- Seven Oaks Road
- Lawson Road
18-year-old arrested in June shooting on Monte Carlo Drive
An 18-year-old has been arrested in relation to a shooting back in June, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators seized the following quantities of illegal narcotics during the execution of these warrants:
- 14 grams of crack cocaine
- 16.6 grams of powder cocaine
- 41.3 grams of methamphetamine
- 21.5 grams of marijuana
- Hydrocodone pills
Two people were arrested and charged in connection with the drug distribution investigation, according to officials.
Officials say, Navara Lawson was arrested and charged with: trafficking cocaine, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with the intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
Darran Jones was arrested and charged with: possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, according to officials.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office says they will continue to work with local, state, and federal agencies to identify and dismantle drug trafficking networks in the region.
