AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - In downtown Augusta, following Black Friday, there was Small Business Saturday.

It’s the day small businesses get to shine, which comes at an important time.

Some small businesses are still dealing with the impacts of Hurricane Helene.

Black Friday sales bring hundreds of shoppers to local stores

Shoppers in the CSRA hit the stores early to get their Christmas shopping done on Black Friday. Stores, like Bass Pro Shops, gained lines of shoppers at the crack of dawn.

Even though Small Business Saturday is over for the day, the director of Soul City gave his thoughts on why ing small businesses matters.

“It’s a big important day because you need to shop locally, keep your dollars. Local really, all these business owners are people who live in your community and your community, and it’s important to them too,” said John Porter.

Porter also said The Soul City Spectacular, a holiday decoration competition in downtown Augusta, starts on December 6.

If you pick up a raffle ticket from downtown on Saturday, there will be a drawing to announce the winners next week and Downtown Soul City will reach out to the winners.
