AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - If you want to help some children this holiday season, you don’t have to go much farther than News 12 this week.
The News 12 26 Toys for Tots Drive is in full swing at 1226 Gray Way.
You can donate toys from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Dec. 13.

Over the weekend, a man who did not want to be named brought four full-sized kids’ BMX bikes and two smaller kid bikes.
He also dropped off a football and a basketball.
Community gathers for Tinseltown Forest in North Augusta
This was the second year of North Augusta’s Tinseltown Forest, where those attending could leave with a Christmas tree.

Toys for Tots has been bringing Christmas to kids since 1947. Each year, the need seems to grow, and this holiday looks no different.
“On October 14, within hours, we were overwhelmed. We had over 500 applications online, so we had to close it and make sure before we take the applications that we will be able to service the families,” said Anne Woods, assistant coordinator for Toys for Tots.
Woods says they also have received requests in person and from schools.
After Black Friday, small business shine in downtown Augusta
In downtown Augusta, following Black Friday, there was Small Business Saturday. It’s the day small businesses get to shine, which comes at an important time.

She says the best thing the community can do right now is donate.
“They can donate, and we can go buy what we need, or they can donate the toys themselves, and we are grateful for however they would like to do it. It’s always a blessing,” said Woods.
Just last year, they distributed nearly 70,000 toys, which brought a smile to 35,000 kids.
