3 Aiken high schools approved to get field upgrades

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Aiken County Board of Education approved three new turf fields on Tuesday.

Silver Bluff, Midland Valley and Aiken High School will be getting the new field updates.

Funding for Silver Bluff and Aiken’s turf fields will come from the 1% sales tax. Midland Valley’s funding will come from a combination of the athletic budget and the 1% sales tax.

The Aiken County Board of Education adopted new restrictions on cellphones Tuesday.

The upgrade will start immediately after football season and will be completed by May 11, 2025.

The turf fields will be used year-round for all sports.
