Name released for 75-year-old killed in Aiken County crash

A woman died on Friday morning hours after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 Thursday night.

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A 75-year-old woman has been identified as the victim of crash on Interstate 20 in Aiken County, the coroner told us Tuesday.

The Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables reported on the death of the driver who has been identified as Lorene Craig, of Ellenwood.

Ables said he responded to Wellstar MCG to investigate Craig’s death and pronounced her dead at 2:56 a.m.

For the past few weeks, crews have been working across the CSRA before the holidays to fix roadways.

Road closure

Craig died from injuries sustained in the single-vehicle crash that happened Thursday night, at approximately 9:41 p.m. on the eastbound lane of Interstate 20 near the 10-mile marker, Ables says.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was traveling east when the vehicle left the roadway to the right and struck a tree, according to Ables.

40-year-old man killed in Washington County crash

After a fatal single-vehicle crash in Washington County, authorities have identified the victim.

EMS transported the driver to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing with the investigation.

Less than a week later, an Eutawville man is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Aiken County on Sunday, according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner’s office says at 10:26 a.m. on Monday, they responded to Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina regarding the death of a man involved in a single-vehicle crash.
