S.C. lawmaker pushes for restrictions on some library books

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - A South Carolina lawmaker is looking to withhold funding for public libraries that do not restrict certain books.
Sen. Rex Rice represents District 2 which covers parts of Pickens and Greenville Counties pre-filed the bill which would withhold funds from locations that do not certify with the state that their children’s section does not contain material that is allegedly considered sexual in nature.

A similar law went into effect over the summer, but it was only temporary and meant to last a year.
This new bill comes after years of fights of book restrictions in public libraries.
