‘The Dream is Real’ for Screven County MLK Day parade
SYLVANIA, Ga. (WTOC) - On Jan. 18, the streets of Sylvania will be flooded with marching bands, floats and much more for the annual Martin Luther King Day parade.
“I love it each year because the county, the community, comes together,” said Rosa Romeo, Screven County commissioner.
Romeo says the theme of this year’s parade will be “The Dream Is Real.”
Here are the details on Jimmy Carter’s burial
Former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral plans have been announced.

Romeo says as a Screven County native, she says her dream for the growth of the county has never felt more real.
“I have lived in Screven County pretty much all my life and I have seen where we have come from to where we are now,” said Romeo. “I also foresee where we can go...it takes a team.”
Uley Robbins the Screven County NAA President, says he has seen progressive growth in his community in the past few years but strives to see it a lot more.
Security heightened for Jimmy Carter’s funeral procession and services
The Secret Service has spent the week securing the Carter Center for the events honoring the life of late President Jimmy Carter.

“I would like to see a better Screven County,” said Robbins. “What I mean by that is I would like to see everybody get involved. I would like to see people of different colors, nationalities, be concerned about their community.”
The parade will take place Jan. 18 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., followed by a ceremony at the county’s courthouse.
