Suspect arrested in July slaying of 38-year-old near Walton Way

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 38-year-old near Walton Way back in July, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Team and U.S. Marshal’s Southeastern Fugitive Task Force were able to locate and arrest Joshua Wadley, 40, of Augusta, in the 700 block of Forest Ridge Place on Monday at 7:32 p.m.

Since mid-April, there’s been a wave of homicides and other sweeping the CSRA. Although as the largest city, Augusta has been hit especially hard, the crime wave is affecting places large and small.

Wadley was wanted in the murder of Ceon Ulmer, of Jenkins Street, which occurred July 2.

Ulmer was found outside a residence on Warren Street with at least one gunshot wound, according to Coroner Mark Bowen.

Bowen says he was pronounced dead on the scene an hour later.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division took out warrants on Wadley for murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime the same day this incident took place and have worked tirelessly to locate him and bring him to justice with hopes of bringing some closure for the victim’s family.
