Appling man jailed over profanity-laced threat to SLED officer
APPLING, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - An Appling man has been charged in South Carolina with threatening the life of a public official.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said Michael Lee Gaskins, 56, was charged on Friday and booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
SLED confirms assault, voyeurism investigation underway after Mace speech
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division confirmed Monday night it has an active investigation into accusations of assault, voyeurism and harassment involving the former fiancé of U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace.

According to authorities, the threat came in a profanity-laced voicemail on Feb. 2 alleging SLED killed a person whose name is redacted from the arrest warrant. The voicemail ended with “I’m gonna blow your ... head off” and then Gaskins identified himself by name, according to the warrant.
The warrant isn’t clear on what prompted the threat against a SLED agent.
Former McCormick officer charged with misconduct in office
A former McCormick Police Department officer has been charged with misconduct in office, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Gaskins was booked into Lexington County jail, according to SLED.
His bond was set at $150,000, according to jail records.
