AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Aiken Department of Public Safety officers responded to a shooting just before noon in the Crosland Park neighborhood on Wednesday.

Officials told us the shooting was in the 1200 block of George Street Northeast at Schroder Avenue around 11:40 a.m.

News 12 staff on the scene learned that a Black male juvenile had been shot.

Initial reports indicated the boy was about 17 years old.

The incident comes amid an outbreak of violent crime that’s claimed about 200 lives in nearly three years across the CSRA.
