LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE/Gray News) – The parent company of KFC has announced plans to relocate its corporate headquarters to Texas.

According to Yum! Brands, about 100 KFC U.S. corporate employees in Louisville will be moving to its KFC and Pizza Hut Global headquarters in Plano, Texas, outside of Dallas.

It’s a process that will take approximately six months to complete.

The company said that over the next 18 months, about 90 U.S.-based remote employees would also be relocating.

“These changes position us for sustainable growth and will help us better serve our customers, employees, franchisees and shareholders,” David Gibbs, Yum! Brands CEO said. “Bringing more of our people together will maximize our unrivaled culture. I’m confident this is another important step in growing our iconic restaurant brands globally.”

Representatives with Yum! Brands said the designation of the new brand headquarters will “foster greater collaboration among brands and employees.”

The company said it will continue to provide sponsored scholarships for students throughout Kentucky along with building a first-of-its-kind flagship restaurant in Louisville.

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said he is disappointed to hear about the move.

“I am disappointed to learn that Yum! Brands will move its KFC employees to Texas – especially since the brand was born here and is synonymous with Kentucky,” Greenberg said. “I will work tirelessly with Yum!’s leadership to continue growing its presence in Louisville.”

Company representatives said the KFC Foundation will remain in Louisville along with some of their corporate offices.
