Columbia County leaders postpone vote on tiny cottages
EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Columbia County commissioners voted to postpone a vote on approving the land development contract to bring more than 100 tiny cottages to Mullins Colony in Evans.
Commissioners postponed the vote until March 20.
Commissioners also said they needed more information about the development in the unanimous vote.
Kimberly-Clark looks to expand as county officials tax incentive
Kimberly-Clark has been part of Aiken County’s landscape for 57 years as one of the largest private employers in the area.
The plan calls for 123 tiny cottages in an area around Mullins Crossing, which is already a busy area.
Brightside Homes is asking the county to grant a rezoning of 15 acres.
“Anytime you add housing like this it affects property values all around it and the county so I’m curious what it would look like down the road,” said Hailey Etzel, a Columbia County resident.
Bill Beazley to help build tiny homes for former foster youths
A well-known local housing developer signs on to help build a tiny home village that will instill life skills in former foster youths.
Each acre will have nearly eight cottages ranging in all sizes from one bed and one bath to three beds and 2.5 baths.
All of this comes with a pool, clubhouse, dog park, nature trails, gym and more.
Developers say this plan addresses the housing shortage while enhancing the quality of life.
