U.S. Navy brings mixed-reality experiences to South Carolina high-schoolers
COLUMBIA, S.C. -The U.S. Navy visited a South Carolina high school with new technology in tow.
The new “Strike Group” mobile mixed-reality experience came to Richland Northeast High School on Monday to educate students about science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers with the Navy.
The mixed-reality experience is made up of three parts.
Families hit roadblocks with new military moving contract
Every year more than 300,000 military families get orders that uproot their lives, often with little time or notice. It can be extremely stressful, but the I-TEAM uncovered that the new contract with HomeSafe Alliance is making it even more stressful for some.
The first, titled “All Hands,” uses a virtual reality headset to transport teams of five students to the deck of the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, where they work together to help launch an F-35C Lightning II jet.
The second, titled “”, has students navigate an interactive map filled with naval ships and vehicles to explore the humanitarian missions the Navy conducts around the globe.
Supreme Court deals latest blow to service harmed in military malpractice cases
The Supreme Court has issued a new blow to active duty service hoping to seek justice following cases of medical malpractice at the hands of military doctors, nurses and other healthcare practitioners.
The third, titled “Fly”, drops students into the cockpit of an F-35C Lightning II jet, where they learn basic flight maneuvers, drop munitions on a practice target and try to land safely on an aircraft carrier.
