AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Georgia Student Finance Commission has teamed up with the University System of Georgia and the Technical College System of Georgia to offer application fee waivers in March.

That includes Augusta University and Augusta Tech.

The effort is part of the Georgia Apply to College program.

According to GSFC, the program’s goal is to provide all Georgia high school seniors with the opportunity to apply to college, with a focus on assisting first-generation and underrepresented students as they begin the application process.

Also this month, applications opened for the Georgia’s Promise Scholarship Program, which offers private school tuition vouchers for students of low-performing public schools.

Students at the lowest performing 25% of schools are supposed to be eligible to apply for the “Georgia Promise” program.

Forty-two Richmond County schools are included in an updated list of the state’s lowest-performing public schools, but we’ve already determined that every student in Richmond County is eligible because of the way the rules are written.
