New details emerge in Diamond Lakes Park stalking incident
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We’re learning more about an incident that hits close to home for many.
Tyrone Bernard Gaynor Jr., 31, of the 3700 block of Farrington Drive, was arrested on Wednesday, according to investigators.
Gaynor is accused of filming women at Diamond Lakes Park and getting “uncomfortably close to them” and has been charged with misdemeanor stalking.
We’ve looked into this case that the sheriff’s office says basically started with social media posts about Gaynor
The warnings started online. If you go to Facebook and type Diamond Lakes in the search bar, it’s one of the first posts to pop up.
Augusta man faces life in prison for rape case
An Augusta man has been convicted and sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to a rape charge, according to District Attorney Jared Williams.

But it wasn’t until a city worker called the police that those warnings turned into an arrest.
An incident report from March 5 says someone with Richmond County Parks and Recreation told deputies they received multiple complaints about a black male wearing a black do-rag and black shirt.
According to the worker, this person was videoing and approaching women while they exercised on the walking track.
Deputies were able to match the description and photo to Gaynor.
Gaynor told deputies he visits Diamond Lakes Park daily to walk or play basketball.
Around 12:53 p.m. on Wednesday, Gaynor was found on the Diamond Lakes walking track and brought in for further investigation.
WANTED: Suspects sought in 3 Augusta robbery, assault cases
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is looking for three men – Rafael Conde, Martavious Lynell Tomlin and Andrew Wilson – in connection with separate violent crimes.

After talking to Gaynor, deputies eventually arrested and charged him with misdemeanor stalking
According to Georgia law, stalking occurs when someone follows or s another person without the other person’s consent, with the purpose of harassing or intimidating.
We’ve asked the sheriff’s office about this case with some questions about how this turned into an arrest and if there have been issues in the past.
We haven’t heard back from them yet, but in an earlier statement to us, they say to maintain situational awareness, leave any area where you see any suspicious activity and call 911 immediately.
The sheriff’s office says it urges anyone who may have been followed, harassed or has additional information or video footage related to this case or other incidents to it’s Criminal Investigations Division at 706-821-1000, send a message via Facebook Messenger, or email [email protected].
