AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A Richmond County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been fired after being involved in a domestic dispute with another deputy.

On Monday at 9:22 a.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic dispute on the 2600 block of Bowdoin Drive.

Deputies say that when they arrived Deputy Malcolm Bowens told them that Deputy Raneisha Price had pushed him in the face, causing his head to strike the corner of a wall.

Bowens had a half-inch laceration on the back of his head and was treated at a local hospital.

Deputies located Price at her home and she itted to pushing Bowens with her arm and hand before leaving.

Price was arrested and charged with simple battery and family violence. She was transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.

One person has died after a police pursuit ended in a crash on Monday night.

On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office fired Price after an investigation of the altercation took place. She had been on non-paid istrative leave since the arrest occurred.

“We hold those who work for us to the highest standards of conduct, both on and off duty,” says Sheriff Gino Brantley. “Our agency offers a variety of and counseling services to deputies in a proactive manner to prevent incidents like this from occurring. However, when individuals violate the law, we will deal with it accordingly.”

Price was hired by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on November 30, 2019, and assigned to the field operations/road patrol division.
