1 dead, another rescued after tree falls on campsite in north Georgia
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - One hiker was killed and another has to be rescued after a tragic accident in the Cohutta Wilderness area early Saturday morning.
At approximately 2:15 a.m., Fannin County Fire Department Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a life-threatening emergency involving campers “in a remote and difficult-to-access location,” according to the Fannin County Emergency Management Agency.
Four men were sleeping on hammocks when a tree fell onto their campsite, according to officials.
Man dies after equipment falls on him at work
A 23-year-old man has died after a piece of equipment fell on him while at work on Thursday.

When crews arrived, responders immediately confirmed one death.
One of the men was trapped beneath the tree and unresponsive. Two were able to hike out on their own, but rescuers had to use a helicopter to rescue the injured hiker.
The campsite was “was located approximately 4.2 miles from the nearest trailhead, requiring SAR teams to hike over 8.4 miles round-trip through difficult terrain, much of it in the dark,” according to the agency.
Rescuers are calling it a tragic and unforeseeable tragedy.
