(InvestigateTV) — As the construction workforce ages, the industry looks to rebuild.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 20% of construction workers are 55 or older.

Nearly 454,000 new workers will be needed in 2025 to meet industry demand.

Factors contributing to the workforce shortage include retirement, so-called mega-projects, interest rates, and not enough young people entering skilled labor.

Some say the solution to this challenge could come from recruiting more women.

Reporter Heather Graf explains why the future of construction may be female.
