AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The alley event happening Friday night in downtown Aiken with live music performances.

Take a listen.

This is the first time Amp the Alley has been held specifically for golf week.

Performances featured local and regional acts each night with August Haze performing Friday night.

We talked to the Amp the Alley organizer about balancing the rush of patrons with local customers during golf week.

“It is one that is often filled with as much excitement as dread because you know it’s going to be busy. You want to do a great job, and it’s important to give equally great service to people who are visiting Aiken, as are the people who aren’t. For every day, somebody might be inclined to discount the fact that you might not see this person again for a year, but each business, especially down there downtown Aiken, is almost entirely independent business. So, you’re representing all the uniqueness that is Aiken,” said Joshua “Moose” Nicholson, event organizer for Amp the Alley.

If you miss out on Amp the Alley Friday night, it runs again Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

As Amp the Alley brings patrons and locals out to downtown Aiken, we checked in with businesses there today.

We stopped by Woodchuckers axe throwing about the amount of traffic they have seen during golf week in the alley.

They said whether it was rain or shine this year, patrons came out to experience what they had to offer.

“We get so many different people from like all over the country, all over from other countries that will come in and it’s so you meet tons of people. It’s my favorite time to work during the alley. It has been way busier actually this year when compared to other years before. Sometimes it can be hit or miss, but this year just everybody is so excited to come out like even during the rain on Monday, people were coming out. It has been an absolute blast,” said Katherine Hollingsworth, general manager at Woodchuckers.

Glad to see Aiken getting in on the golf week business.
