COLUMBIA, S.C. - This week, lawmakers in Columbia are once again discussing a House bill that would allow the building of South Carolina’s very first casino.

The bill is specifically designed to bring economic development to the Santee area. This is a place where businesses development is slow and people need more jobs.

However, Santee is a retirement community with many religious groups who are wary of gambling and the uptick in crime they believe is associated with casinos.
