NEW YORK (Gray Media) - As President Trump continues celebrating his first 100 days in office, Democrats are taking the opportunity to criticize his efforts. On Wednesday, Democratic leaders took to the Senate steps to highlight what they consider to be a chaotic first few months of the president’s second term.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said one big “F word” defines President Trump’s first 100 days, “Failure.”

Schumer and the colleagues surrounding him have been mostly sidelined for months with no control in either chamber, only the ability to delay and criticize.

“Failure on lowering costs. Failure on tariffs. Failures on foreign policies. Failure on preserving democracies. Failure on helping middle class families,” said Schumer.

Democrats point to mass deportations without due process, firing thousands of federal workers, fraying relationships with key global allies, and what they claim will be eventual cuts to Medicaid, social security, and health care to save money. But one key criticism has emerged 100 days in:

“It is the Trump economy, it is a failed economy, and the American people know it,” said House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Trade wars sparked by the president set off a volatile period on Wall Street and Main Street -with American consumers expected to shoulder the cost.

The president says pain will be short lived while the global economic order resets with new trade deals.

“It’s a big ship to turnaround and we’re going to have the greatest country financially in the history of the world,” said President Trump surrounded by his cabinet at the White House Wednesday.

With no ability to craft a legislative agenda, Democrats hope sounding the alarm on the Trump istration will help win back control over at least one chamber of Congress in next year’s midterm elections.
