AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - On May 14 at 6:15 p.m., the Aiken County Coroner’s Office responded to Kalmia Apartments Lane in Graniteville to investigate the death of 73-year-old Bernard E. Harper.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m., Aiken County Emergency Medical Services responded to Mr. Harper’s apartment after he was found unresponsive by an extended family member, according to the coroner’s office.

EMS determined Mr. Harper was deceased, and the coroner’s office pronounced him dead at 6:50 p.m.

An autopsy has been scheduled in Newberry to determine the cause and manner of death, officials say.

The coroner’s office is continuing with the investigation. No foul play is suspected.
