They had their commencement ceremony Friday morning.

Students put on their caps and gowns and walked the stage at first baptist church of Augusta, celebrating all of their hard work, resilience and achievements.

The director at GMC Augusta shared a message for those graduates as they start their new careers.

Mrs. Georgia America 2024 Ana Christina Bowers was the commencement’s distinguished speaker.

“I shared my journey through the Miss Texas USA, and the reason why I do that is because I faced so many losses before I got that yes. And so just to know those losses are part of the process, they help refine the person and the results you are going to see in the future, if you keep working hard,” said Bowers.

”One of the biggest things and lessons I’ve learned in life is that throughout life you’re going to face adversity and challenges, and so as they make their transition, to celebrate of course the wins, but also have joy throughout the losses because the losses are really what teach us and give you the strength that we need in order to move forward,” said Bowers.

This year, the college is celebrating 145 years.
