Apalachee High seniors receive diplomas 8 months after deadly shooting

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Apalachee High School’s class of 2025 just got their diplomas after what seemed like an impossible school year for many.

Dozens of students walked across the stage on Thursday.

The moment serves as the ending of a chapter in their lives that began with one of the most tragic days in state history.

Dozens packed the football stadium, eager to receive diplomas but hesitant to move forward as adults in a world where school shootings are becoming more and more common.

Loved ones of the students who graduated Thursday paused to those who did not survive.

“It’s something that you won’t forget,” said one attendee. “It’s something that everyone will . But it’s good to look at the bright side and always think positive and know that there’s always light to be shown after a rainstorm.”
