‘We love this community’: Family opens new sandwich shop in North Augusta
NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A new sandwich shop is open in North Augusta - and it’s a family affair.
From lunch classics to Italian ice, there’s a lot to check out at Carolina Hills Sandwich and Sweet Shoppe.
Jesse and Jenny Elliott saw the need for a sandwich shop in North Augusta.
Already the owners of a flower shop and boutique, they tried to get some friends to start the new business.
28-year-old killed, another injured in shooting at Augusta apartments
One person has died and another was injured in a shooting at the MacArthur Park Apartments in Augusta on Thursday night.

“‘Hey, you guys should do this. It’s a need. People would love it,’ and we couldn’t talk anybody into doing it. And long story short, we’re like, ‘Well,l I guess it’s us,’” said Jesse.
So they got a building and some equipment and went to work.
They had their grand opening about two months after g a lease.
“I quit my job at Bridgestone and came here to start working in here,” said Jesse. “Twelve, 14-hour days for two months, six-seven days a week. Lots of help.”
Richmond County Marshal’s Office employee fired after misconduct investigation
A Richmond County Marshal’s Office employee has been terminated after an investigation into misconduct, the agency says.

During the grand opening, their son was in the kitchen.
And their oldest daughter even has her own section of the store selling Italian ice.
“She’s kind of gotten that bug for being an entrepreneur,” said Jenny. “All of our kids are like thinking about businesses and thinking about things that they love.”
They also want it to be a family atmosphere for the community.
They are showcasing local artwork, with North Augusta jerseys hanging on the walls as well.
FBI has been ‘conducting law enforcement activities’ at Augusta city offices
The FBI confirms that it’s been at the Augusta-Richmond County Municipal Building this week. However, the agency is not saying exactly what it's investigating.

The Elliots are creating what they hope is a new staple in the town they call home.
“We love this community. I think the biggest thing is we love North Augusta and the community here,” said Jenny.
